1.Q:The TV format changes to the "Letterbox" (bars on the sides).
A:Make sure that the bars on the side are with all channels. If it is on only one or two channels then sometimes some shows are broadcasted in a different format. Like you have bars on top and below on a movie in the cinema. That is normal. You need to change the picture mode. Press the P.Mode button on the remote and put it to Auto.
2.Q:Has no picture but has sound (the green light is on)
A:Unconnect the power cord from the wall and let the TV rest for 2-3 minutes. Then put the cord back and try to boot up the TV. If the picture doesn't come on then shut the TV down and push the side power button and hold it down for 30-45 seconds. This is a restart button for the TV. If still nothing comes up it is best to take the TV back to the store.
3.Q:Has picture but no sound.
A:See that the TV isn't on MUTE. It the sound still won't come on then make sure that the same problem is with DVD player or a VCR. If you don't have sound with DVD player then make sure that the connector are in the write sockets. If still the sound won't come back do a reset default. Go to menu, go down to setup and from there select RESET DEFAULT and press OK. It asks "are you sure?", move to OK and press the ok button on the remote. It resets everything to default.
4.Q:Nothing working. No picture no sound, only red light on the TV
A:Unconnect the power cord form the wall and let the TV rest for 2-3 minuts. Then put the cord back and try to boot up the TV. If the picture doesn't come on then shut the TV down and hold down the side power button for 30-45 seconds. This is a restart button for the TV. If still nothing comes up it best to take the TV back to the store.
5.Q:Freezes and after that won't do anything. Have to pull the power cord from the wall.
A:If the TV freezes while you are watching the channels all the time and to resolve the problem only possibility would be to pull the power cord from the wall you can ask the client to do a factory reset. Look at point nr8. If that doesn't help let the customer hold down the side power button for 45sec. and then boot up the TV.
6.Q:Channels freeze up
A:If the channels freeze up and you need to change the channel to get it back then it is usually a aerial signal problem. Can suggest to the client to do a reset default and then do the channel scan again. If the signal is weak then the TV will lose its signal and it will freeze up. It does it only with digital channels because if the signal is to weak the picture will cut off. Analog channels will run perfectly. If the TV freezes up totally and you cant do anything then see no. 5 problem and solution.
7.Q:Channel scan / Auto scan
A:Press the menu button go down with the down arrow to TV, press OK and move down to Channel Scan and press OK. It will start the scan which will take 2-3 minutes.
8.Q:Reset Default
A:Press the menu button go down with the down arrow to Setup, press OK and move again down to Reset Default and press OK. It will ask "are you sure". You'd need to move to OK and Press the OK button on the remote. After that you need to do a Channel scan.
9.Q:Missing Channels
A:If there is some missing channels then it is usually a aerial signal problem. Can suggest to the client to do a reset default and then do the channel scan again. If the signal is weak then the TV won't pick up some of the channels. They can also try to plug the TV into another room to see maybe the signal is better there. It might be that the cable has been divided to get the signal to other rooms and maybe that's why the signal has lost it's streght. If they have used an analog TV and they have an analog antenna on the roof that might be the problem why the TV signal is weak. Analog and digital signals are different. When analog signal is weak you might get a fuzzy picture but if the signal is weak with DTV then you won't find the channels at all. There is nothing wrong with the TV. If there would be something wrong with the TV then it wouldn't pick up any channels. They should contact an antenna expert to find a best way to boost the signal or go over the cable connections.
10.Q:When the plasma is turned on I get lines like sound bars across the screen on all other analog TV's in the house.
A:It might be to do something called EMP - Electromagnetic pulse. The problem is under investigation at the moment. So if customers call say that you have never heard this problem and we will forward all the information to our China office.
11.Q:Forgets channel memory
A:If a TV forgets its channels try to do a reset default. Look at problem nr. 8. After reset default do a channel scan and see if it makes any difference. If the problem still exists, the TV looses it channels then the TV needs to come back to us. But before it comes back, make sure definitely that it has lost his channels for quite a few times, not one time only.
12.Q: Distortion in the speakers in low volume
A:It should be like a wind sound in the speakers and mainly in low volume. Under 20 or even lower. The problem might be that the TV case is a bit loose and there is to much space between the speaker and the case. So if the customer could screw th screws on the back of the a bit tighter. He needs to screw lower part screws. Not the side or the upper case. Only the lower case! If it doesn't make any difference then the unit needs to come back to us.
13.Q: Can't get picture from AV output to your DVD or VCR recorder input. Only audio.
A:If a customer wants to record a Digital Channels from the TV to his DVD or VCR recorder he might encounter that he only records audio and no picture. This happens because our TV output send out only analog signal and no digital signal. For example when a customer hooks up his other TV and tries to get the picture from Digital television to his Digital or analog TV, then he can only get analog TV channels running on the second TV. Solution how to record the TV channels would be to use a aerial cable/signal splitter which would divide the signal to 2. Use one aerial cable for the aerial input on the DVD/VCR recorder and the other aerial plug into the TV aerial input. That way you can record channels with your DVD / VCR recorder, but probably only analogue channels. It depends what tuner you have built in your DVD/VCR recorder. If you'd like to record HD channels you'd need to buy a set top box because the set top box is able to send out digital signal what you can record with your DVD/VCR recorder.
14.Q: TV doesn't stand straight
A:The TV base might be broken. Please advise the customer to have a close look at the base if they can see any cracks or what might be the fault with it. Also see if the screws are correctly in.
15.Q: Funny sound. Like a hall or a theatre
A:Please press the s.mode button on the remote until it is off. This might help with the sound problem. If not please look at the problem nr. 12.
16.Q: Volume is stuck full, TV channels are changing their self, source menu or the main menu pops up all the time and scrolling thru it.
A:If one of these thing happen it might be that the side buttons on the TV are stuck. What the customer needs to do is if they look at the back of the TV. On that side where are the side buttons they can see two screws. One above the side buttons and one down from the side buttons. Ask them to take screw driver and loosen up these 2 screws. When they have done that ask them also to squeeze the panel so that the buttons would come loose. They can also push each button couple of times to loosen them up. If the problem still exists then the TV needs to come back to us. |
